Description
Scene is from Diamond Beach Iceland. Its real name is Jokulsarlon beach. Fascinating location that is part of the Golden Circle.
As icebergs fall off of the glacier in Jokulsarlon and head out to sea many pieces find their way onto the black sand beach.
Sparkling blues and whites they lie scattered on the beach like so many diamonds.
As they melt and break apart they will take on many shapes that will fire ones imagination. This berg resembled a figure, a mermaid perhaps that seems to be speaking to a fish. This is an example of personification.
A popular stop for tourists and only a day trip from Reykjavík unless its winter then because of minimal sunlight you may want to do an overnight visit.
Diamond beach is a National conservation area and is a breeding ground for most of Iceland's well known birds.
More of my photos from this location as well as from this majestic Nordic country can be viewed in my collection titled Iceland.
