The historic estate of Thomas Amis (Pronounced Amy) is located in Rogersville Tennessee, the second oldest town in Tennessee. It once was a stopover for dignitaries of the day including Andrew Jackson, Bishop Francis Asbury, Andre Michaux, John Sevier and Daniel Boone.
Captain Thomas Amis was awarded 1000 acres for his Revolutionary War military service. He later acquired more land from Davy Crocketts uncle, after Dragging Canoe the Cherokee Indian chief destroyed the buildings of what later became Rogersville.
The grounds are well maintained with an eatery and several other buildings that you can visit while walking the paths through the estate.
