Description
While on a recent photo excursion to Bulls island which is part of the Cape Romaine. National Wildlife Refuge I took this photo just as sun was beginning its ascent. The area is known as Boneyard Beach. No one is allowed to camp overnight on the island thus sunrise is kind of a rare event for many. These sunrise photography expeditions are timed to coincide with low tide. The refuge itself encompasses about 66000 acres. Aside from sunrise the island is mecca for birders, wildlife enthusiasts and beachcombing enthusiasts looking for shells and sand dollars that you wont find washed up on most tourist beaches. The trip was very well organized by "Coastal Expeditions" from Charleston South Carolina. All the employees we encountered were friendly and knowledgeable about the area and eager to share their information. More images from this photo shoot as well as more of my work can be viewed here in FAA in my collections.
