Description
This historic building traces its roots back to the early days of Pennsylvania when Ben Franklin arranged sale of the land to one Samuel Meredith who became the first treasurer of the United States serving in that capacity for three different presidents.
In 1823 Sylvester Johnson purchased the land and built upon it a home for his wife and three sons. Two of those sons went on to form Johnson and Johnson the health and pharmaceutical company.
James Johnson returned home in 1916 and built the 2 story manor that he called a "Country Cottage"
Today local neighbors have bought the property and are restoring it to its charming past.
Its an ambitious undertaking, but a deserving one for a beautiful structure such as this.
