Description
Legend has it that the God known as Coyote to the Paiute Indians was mad at the "Legend People" creatures part man, part animal who squandered the resources of the desert and wouldn't share with other denizens of this arid land. So Coyote being the trickster he was known to be invited the Legend People to a grand feast where they could eat all day long. They dressed in their finest garb and before they could partake of anything Coyote turned them to stone. As it occurred they were standing, sitting, some tried to flee but all were petrified. Their brightly colored clothes are said to be the reason for the many different colors of the hoodoos. The elements of nature have worn away their faces. More of my work can be seen in my gallery here in FAA for Zion and Surrounding Areas.

In addition to the banner, I am adding this more permanent recognition of its FEATURE on the homepage of A TREE OR TREES IN BLACK AND WHITE. I try mightily to feature only images that would be at home in a juried competition. No doubt that this image fits that bill. CONGRATULATIONS! And consider adding your image to DISCUSSIONS "Please post your featured photograph here" for greater, long-lasting visibility.
