Description
Many beaches are known as "Boneyard Beach". Florida, Georgia, California all have one but a simple Google search for Boneyard Beach and Charleston South Carolina is usually first and foremost in results. The island beach is part of the Romaine National Wildlife Refuge. Bulls Island is one of the barrier islands and is home to many endangered species of birds as well as loggerhead turtles. Nests of these turtles are identified by park personnel and then protected and even moved if threatened by changing conditions. Boneyard beach consists of a forest that the ocean has taken over. A favorite location for photographers. Access is gained by a private charter company whose office is located in Charleston SC. The company is Coastal Expeditions.
