Description
I've taken some liberty here in combining two of my images. The sculpture is of Vittorio Emmanuele. He became 1st King of Unified Italy on March 17th 1861. He became known as Father of the Fatherland. The sculpture is part of the national monument in Rome known also to some as Altar of the Fatherland.
The letters S P Q R translated means The Senate and People of Rome. It was printed on official papers, money and inscribed in metal and stone. Still used today as an official emblem. More of my art can be viewed in my collection titled Italy.
