Description
Fountain of the Pantheon was designed and sculpted from marble around 1575 and was commissioned by Pope Gregory VIII. It is located in the Piazza della Rotonda in Rome Italy. Piazza translated means city square. Situated just outside of the Pantheon or more formally known as the Church of Santa Maria Rotonda.
Over the years the Italian sculpture has seen many modifications and changes. In 1711 Pope Clement XI asked to add the Egyptian obelisk and four decorative dolphins at its base. 1886 the original marble figures were removed to the museum of Rome. They were replaced with copies.

A most intriguing image -- the delicacy of floral with the drama of a mythical creature.
