Description
The Gorilla is the largest of all primates has few predators to worry about and we share 98% of our DNA making them very close to human beings.
Found mainly in Africa in both tropic and sub tropic areas.
They are fascinating to watch in their natural environment or in as close to natural as is possible while confined within an enclosure.
All Gorillas make nests and from the age of three you will find them on the ground and even within a tree. Day nests for resting and night nests for sleeping.
Over the years partly because of their massive physique and long sharp teeth (for eating plant life not meat) they have been viewed as aggressive dangerous killers when in fact they are gentle giants.
I made this photo amidst a group of people who were watching this Gorilla and I could tell he wasn't enjoying being the center of attraction. As I made my way out I heard a sound that resembled thunder. It seemed as though he had enough and charged to the end of the cliff separating us. He pounded the ground and slapped his chest reminding all present who he thought was boss.
I left with mixed feelings a combination of excitement at viewing something totally foreign to my existence and saddened by the realization that the experience is not a natural one.
Purchase either as a print or gift cards and they will make a great gift to someone who admires these creatures.
