The Great White Egret is sometimes called the Great White Heron and is only slightly smaller than it. It maybe because of its all white plumage that it has the reputation for being graceful and stately. They are also distinguished by their long black legs and long, dagger like yellow bills.
It is a wading bird that stalks its prey or will often just stand in place until something like a small fish, crab or frog swims its way to them.
This particular bird was spotted on a jetty in the Barnegat Lighthouse State Park of New Jersey, very near the landmark lighthouse known as Old Barney located on the northern tip of Long Beach Island
My body of work ranges from photographic digital art to the more traditional use of a camera photographing scenes of landscapes and everyday life. My photography has its roots going back to my experiences with infrared film. It was there that I saw how an image could be manipulated to something much more different than what was first seen. I still compose some photos from the infrared spectrum only now I use a camera converted to IR. When digital came along it was an easy move to software and all the possibilities that were and are now possible with their use. Still the initial composition in camera is paramount and once the shutter is closed and image transferred to computer, I can turn my imagination loose and enhance or create...
