Description
The meaning of the word hoodoo when translated means to bewitch. Bryce Canyon certainly bewitches. The rock formations and minerals deposited within them make for a dazzling panorama.
According to Indian lore and as related by one "Indian Dick" the canyon was home to the "Legend People" who long story short did something bad and Coyote turned them all into rocks. Some standing in rows, some sitting down, some holding onto others. You can see their faces with paint on them as they were before they became rocks".
The canyon itself, really a series of weather formed amphitheaters is named after Mormon Pioneer Ebenezer Bryce.
