Description
After a surprise early snow the area was blanketed in a pretty coat of snow. Enough to whiten everything yet not be hazardous or even a nuisance. This herd of black cows were organizing themselves into an Indian file or single file which is the term that is more commonly used. Cattle will line up like this and each one knows what number or place in line is theirs. Still a mystery today is why they line up like this. It seems that they will line up in a north south line leaving many to believe that has something to do with the magnetic fields there. At any rate I found the scene appealing and pointed my camera at them and later added a bit to it to give it a painterly feel. I love this amazing piece ... have seen the cows lining up and heading off, single file, or as you say "Indian File"... I'd forgotten that expression but do remember it from the old days ... many times. And how I asked and asked the why of this line-up!!!! I never got a decent answer either, lol. Great capture!!! l/f
