This photo was taken at the Little Doe River while photographing in Roan Mountain State Park. The river forms in Carter County and is a tributary of the Watauga rive. The effect is the result of using a camera converted to seeing the infrared spectrum. I also enhance the image digitally using various software programs. More of my photography from the Volunteer State can be viewed in my collection of images from Tennessee here in FAA.
My body of work ranges from photographic digital art to the more traditional use of a camera photographing scenes of landscapes and everyday life. My photography has its roots going back to my experiences with infrared film. It was there that I saw how an image could be manipulated to something much more different than what was first seen. I still compose some photos from the infrared spectrum only now I use a camera converted to IR. When digital came along it was an easy move to software and all the possibilities that were and are now possible with their use. Still the initial composition in camera is paramount and once the shutter is closed and image transferred to computer, I can turn my imagination loose and enhance or create...
