In this photo Grandmother and Grandchild seem to be studying each other in careful consideration. And in fact that is probably true especially for the infant. A newborn can see very clearly anything that is approximately 8 to 15 inches away. A small child like this would rather look at a round face instead of an object. Light and dark edges are especially attractive to them which may be at work here in this photograph.
This portrait was taken using a Nikon DSLR 7000. I did not use a flash but took advantage of the natural light coming through a window. The sunlight also kept baby warm while taking this picture.
My body of work ranges from photographic digital art to the more traditional use of a camera photographing scenes of landscapes and everyday life. My photography has its roots going back to my experiences with infrared film. It was there that I saw how an image could be manipulated to something much more different than what was first seen. I still compose some photos from the infrared spectrum only now I use a camera converted to IR. When digital came along it was an easy move to software and all the possibilities that were and are now possible with their use. Still the initial composition in camera is paramount and once the shutter is closed and image transferred to computer, I can turn my imagination loose and enhance or create...
