Gilberto Lunas lived to be 108 years old, in what most would call a harsh, unforgiving land. He built this Jacal from his surroundings of fibrous plants, rock and earth. The rear wall is actually a large boulder. He raised a large family and kept them fed from a farm that he irrigated from nearby Alamo Creek whenever it flooded.
My body of work ranges from photographic digital art to the more traditional use of a camera photographing scenes of landscapes and everyday life. My photography has its roots going back to my experiences with infrared film. It was there that I saw how an image could be manipulated to something much more different than what was first seen. I still compose some photos from the infrared spectrum only now I use a camera converted to IR. When digital came along it was an easy move to software and all the possibilities that were and are now possible with their use. Still the initial composition in camera is paramount and once the shutter is closed and image transferred to computer, I can turn my imagination loose and enhance or create...
