Description
The Upper Peninsula in Northern Michigan has many sights to see. The Pictured Rock National Shoreline is a must see. Munising Michigan is a small town catering to tourists. Kayaks can be rented to explore the areas attractions. Because of time constraints I chose to take the boat tour. Day started off promising with good sunlight and clouds to disperse the suns rays for the sunset tour. Upon departure it soon became evident that the sun would no longer play a role in my plans as it became overcast. Soon we ran into a fog bank that further obscured sights. I had really been hoping to view the sun dance upon the cliffs and highlight the many colors of red, blue, green, browns, blacks and white that are formed from iron, copper, manganese and limonite. As groundwater makes it way out of the face of these sandstone cliffs they stain the surface leaving these magnificent colors behind. Nature has created a monument to itself using erosion, and weather to shape these sights. The shoreline that runs approximately 17 miles is dotted with waterfalls, sea caves, structures that resemble ordinary objects and otherworldly scenes.
