Description
The Red-bellied Woodpecker has an identity problem. It is often confused with the Red Headed Woodpecker. The differences are easily noted though. The Red Headed Woodpecker has all black wings and solid red head. The Red-bellied woodpecker has black and white barred pattern on its back and just a patch of red at back of head. Here in Tennessee it is a common bird and will often show up at feeders.

What colors! The red simply glows, enhanced by the excellent use of light on the subject.
