Mid September the downtown district of Bristol Tennessee and Virginia is closed to traffic. All throughout this area you will find that stores, restaurants, galleries, theatre and museum all open and many of them have set up tents outside their locations. Food vendors of all ethnicities are prevalent. The main attraction though are the music bands, groups and soloists. At least 20 bands are located on bandstands, stages, tucked away in alleys, some are indoors, others are in the park. Bristol is known as the Birthplace of Country Music and that genre is well represented from country ballads to country rock as well as bluegrass musicians and even a country group with heavy Irish leanings. This is a weekend long event and the bands are shuffled to different times and locations so you have a better chance to not miss anyone. My body of work ranges from photographic digital art to the more traditional use of a camera photographing scenes of landscapes and everyday life. My photography has its roots going back to my experiences with infrared film. It was there that I saw how an image could be manipulated to something much more different than what was first seen. I still compose some photos from the infrared spectrum only now I use a camera converted to IR. When digital came along it was an easy move to software and all the possibilities that were and are now possible with their use.
