Description
The history of rodeos in America dates back to the early 1700's. The Spaniards introduced cattle and horses to the Southwest. Rodeo is a Spanish word meaning roundup. Rodeo today as we know it began in the 1800s. The sport grew out of the hard work common to cattle ranching. Activities like horse breaking, riding, roping, branding and more. Today the Professional Sport is Big Business and propagates the multicultural heritage of the American Southwest. The cry "Ride Em Cowboy" can be heard being yelled enthusiastically from the audience viewing the action. This photo was taken in Gray Tennessee at the Appalachian Fairgrounds. More of my work can be viewed in my collections here within FAA.
