Description
This Russian Orthodox Church sits on a hill overlooking the historic village of Ninilchik.
Ninilchik Alaska is located in the Kenai Peninsula on the coast of Cook Inlet. It has long been known simply as The Village. Originally an area that lodged native hunters and fishermen it eventually was settled by Russian Colonists who came there from Kodiak Island. Their language combined with some of Alaskas native words still survives.
Today the area is a popular tourist attraction because of its scenic beauty of beaches and mountains where four volcanoes are visible. The area is also known for its excellent Salmon and Halibut fishing.
