House is thought to have been built in 1879. Becky Cable lived there and was well known throughout Cades Cove. House was first used as a store then a residence and boarding house. It was the first all frame house in the Cove. It never had plumbing and heat was provided from a fireplace.
Home was built and lived in at first by Leason Gregg. Eight years later it was purchased by John Cable. He, his daughter Rebecca, her brother Dan and his wife helped to run the store and eventually also maintained it as a boarding house. Becky Cable lived to the age of 94 or 96 depending on differing accounts.
My body of work ranges from photographic digital art to the more traditional use of a camera photographing scenes of landscapes and everyday life. My photography has its roots going back to my experiences with infrared film. It was there that I saw how an image could be manipulated to something much more different than what was first seen. I still compose some photos from the infrared spectrum only now I use a camera converted to IR. When digital came along it was an easy move to software and all the possibilities that were and are now possible with their use. Still the initial composition in camera is paramount and once the shutter is closed and image transferred to computer, I can turn my imagination loose and enhance or create...
