Description
The Spanish Dagger, often confused as a cactus plant is actually a species of yucca and is really an evergreen shrub or small tree. This one was photographed near Big Bend National Park in the Chihuahuan Desert an arid ecoregion. They are a popular ornamental garden plant that attracts birds such as hummingbirds and even orioles.
