Artist's Description

Denali meaning the High One or the Great One from the Inuit Koyukon Athabaskan language was also known as Mt McKinley named after former President William McKinley.
If travelling through this National Park and you hope to see this majestic mountain be aware that because the mountain is so large it creates it￿s own weather systems and oftentimes obscures itself behind clouds. You might have more luck seeing one of the many Grizzlies that roam over 6 million acres.
The park road winds it￿s way 91 miles to Wonder Lake. Around mile 15 will be the first opportunity to see the mountain with subsequent views at various vantage points particularly around mile 60. The Eielson visitor center is located at mile 66. My photograph was taken roughly estimating about 100 miles away from the mountain.
The climbing season lasts about 90 days from sometime in April through July depending on weather conditions. Approximately 1000 people will try to summit and only a fraction of those...

My body of work ranges from photographic digital art to the more traditional use of a camera photographing scenes of landscapes and everyday life. My photography has its roots going back to my experiences with infrared film. It was there that I saw how an image could be manipulated to something much more different than what was first seen. I still compose some photos from the infrared spectrum only now I use a camera converted to IR. When digital came along it was an easy move to software and all the possibilities that were and are now possible with their use. Still the initial composition in camera is paramount and once the shutter is closed and image transferred to computer, I can turn my imagination loose and enhance or create...
