Description
Alabama Hills in Lone Pine California is the setting for this photo.
When exploring this area the formations of stone and boulders are going to inspire your mind to imagine all sorts of scenarios especially at sunrise or sunset when the light is playing upon them.
For this image I imagined a Phoenix being reborn from its fiery ashes. The Phoenix is a legendary Arabian bird. It was said to live from 100 to 500 years. Near the end of its life it was said to lay down in its nest of twigs which would then burn ferociously, reducing nest and bird to ashes. It is then reborn from the ashes to become in effect immortal.
The hills and fantastic looking rock formations are all within sight of the Sierra Nevada. The area has been a favorite of Hollywood TV shows and films. The Lone Ranger television series was filmed here as was "The Three Godfathers" starring John Wayne.
