Artist's Description

The battlefield at Gettysburg Pennsylvania is easily among my favorite locations to photograph. The history is enticing and the unspoiled terrain of so many years gone by is no different than it was during those terrible days.
As the battle raged men from both sides stepped into the pages of history.
This monument is of Brevet Major General William Wells. It is located South of Gettysburg on South Confederate Avenue on the way to the "Round Tops".
At time of the battle Wells was a Major in the First Vermont Cavalry Regiment. He led a battalion during a charge led by General Elon Farnsworth against Evander Laws Alabama Brigade and Artillery. Farnsworth was mortally wounded, Wells continued the charge and as it became futile took command of the survivors and led them back to Union lines. Farnsworth and 75 of the 225 cavalry men lost their lives.
Wells was later awarded the "Medal Of Honor" for most distinguished gallantry at Gettysburg July 3 1863.

My body of work ranges from photographic digital art to the more traditional use of a camera photographing scenes of landscapes and everyday life. My photography has its roots going back to my experiences with infrared film. It was there that I saw how an image could be manipulated to something much more different than what was first seen. I still compose some photos from the infrared spectrum only now I use a camera converted to IR. When digital came along it was an easy move to software and all the possibilities that were and are now possible with their use. Still the initial composition in camera is paramount and once the shutter is closed and image transferred to computer, I can turn my imagination loose and enhance or create...
