Artist's Description

Originally titled Solar Opposites but later changed to "Who Am I" is the 2nd of two images selected as "Single Image Award Winners" and were published in B&W Magazine's Special Issue 101.
This started off as an abstract in color but decided to take it a couple steps further and this was the end result. I initially titled it "Solar Opposites" but wasn't entirely sold on that so I posted it on my FB page and asked for suggestions and said I would award an 8 x 12 print for the winning entry.
The replies included the following. "Confronting Your Demons", "Iceolation" the spelling was intentional, Ice Age", "Polar Optic", "Looking Glass", "My Inner Self", "The Great Spirit", " A Shadow of My Former Self", "Smoke Chalk and Mirrors", "Pieces", "Walls", "Lonely Walk", "Rear View Mirrors". The person who submitted "Confronting Your Demons" mentioned that he actually preferred my original title and so with that affirmation I decided to stick with it and in fairness I awarded the free...

Jim Cook

My body of work ranges from photographic digital art to the more traditional use of a camera photographing scenes of landscapes and everyday life. My photography has its roots going back to my experiences with infrared film. It was there that I saw how an image could be manipulated to something much more different than what was first seen. I still compose some photos from the infrared spectrum only now I use a camera converted to IR. When digital came along it was an easy move to software and all the possibilities that were and are now possible with their use. Still the initial composition in camera is paramount and once the shutter is closed and image transferred to computer, I can turn my imagination loose and enhance or create...
