While driving through the Minnesota countryside I saw this farmer making his way alongside the highway. The Amish forego the use of automobiles and prefer this more rudimentary conveyance. At least on this highway they were relatively safe as shoulders were wide enough to accommodate them but I have seen Amish communities in rural Pennsylvania where there is no shoulder so they are at the mercy of other drivers and too often the results are tragic. This is the color version a black and white is also available and can be seen in my galleries.
My body of work ranges from photographic digital art to the more traditional use of a camera photographing scenes of landscapes and everyday life. My photography has its roots going back to my experiences with infrared film. It was there that I saw how an image could be manipulated to something much more different than what was first seen. I still compose some photos from the infrared spectrum only now I use a camera converted to IR. When digital came along it was an easy move to software and all the possibilities that were and are now possible with their use. Still the initial composition in camera is paramount and once the shutter is closed and image transferred to computer, I can turn my imagination loose and enhance or create...
