Driving on road 54 along the Snaefellsnes peninsula towards the town of Grundarfjordur you will come upon one of the most scenic areas of Iceland. Mt Kirkjufoss and the nearby waterfalls. Church mountain and its neighboring waterfalls are easily accessible from a small parking lot that is on same side as the falls. The mountain is on opposite side of highway.
Church Mountain is the Icelandic name for Mt Kirkjufoss. The word foss is Icelandic for waterfall.
Upon leaving this spot, not much further up the road is the small town of Grundarfjordur where there is an interesting church and bell sculpture as well as the harbor.
The mountain itself can be seen in my collection titled Iceland.
My body of work ranges from photographic digital art to the more traditional use of a camera photographing scenes of landscapes and everyday life. My photography has its roots going back to my experiences with infrared film. It was there that I saw how an image could be manipulated to something much more different than what was first seen. I still compose some photos from the infrared spectrum only now I use a camera converted to IR. When digital came along it was an easy move to software and all the possibilities that were and are now possible with their use. Still the initial composition in camera is paramount and once the shutter is closed and image transferred to computer, I can turn my imagination loose and enhance or create...
