Artist's Description

Entrances to cemeteries convey the feeling that you are entering someplace much different than what you encounter most days of the week. Rather than a patchwork system of streets and roads mostly laid out in grid like fashion you enter into a peaceful atmosphere where you will mostly find gentle slopes and curves inviting a leisurely walk, jog or drive.

Elmwood is on the National Register of Historic Places and once inside it is easy to see why. Monuments, statues, markers all tell a story of lives lived, their loves, their sorrows, achievements, scandals and so much more. Civil war veterans from both sides of the conflict now are buried in the same soil. It is a remarkable place filled with the most extraordinary sculptures, old oak trees as well as plants and flowers that really do make it a "Green Space" for all to enjoy.
