Artist's Description
Spring in the mountains, the Smoky mountains to be exact. Water is flowing fast and the area is about to explode in color as wildflowers begin to bloom. The scene here was taken in Cades Cove from the bridge at the trail head to Abrams Falls.
The Great Smoky Mountain National Park sees a huge amount of visitors and you should be prepared for that. The day I was there was no exception. Most parking lots were full but I found that I didn't have to wait long for a space to open up. Also there are pull offs where you could park and then walk back to an area of interest.
Bears will have people stop in middle of the road craning necks to spot them and irritating drivers further back who can't see the reason for the delay. I managed to see two groups of bears this day a family of 4 in a field just alongside the tree line and two more about twenty minutes away climbing up the side of the mountain.

My body of work ranges from photographic digital art to the more traditional use of a camera photographing scenes of landscapes and everyday life. My photography has its roots going back to my experiences with infrared film. It was there that I saw how an image could be manipulated to something much more different than what was first seen. I still compose some photos from the infrared spectrum only now I use a camera converted to IR. When digital came along it was an easy move to software and all the possibilities that were and are now possible with their use. Still the initial composition in camera is paramount and once the shutter is closed and image transferred to computer, I can turn my imagination loose and enhance or create...
