Go Greyhound and Leave the Driving to Us. A popular slogan from 1956 for the Greyhound Bus Company. An advertising jingle that remained in use for another 40 years.
The company itself was formed between 1913 and 1914. An emigrant from Sweden who settled in Minnesota first tried making a living as a used car salesman, but failing that began transporting miners for a fee to and from Hibbing MN to Alice MN.
From this humble beginning the company grew, sometimes fitfully as through the Great Depression, other times dramatically. The Worlds Fair in Chicago increased ridership. A Hollywood movie starring Claudette Colbert, "It Happened One Night" told the story of a woman on a cross country bus trip that further increased interest in vacation travel by bus. During WW2 the buses were used to transport military personnel to bases and workers were bused to munition factories and other factories in support of the war effort.

My body of work ranges from photographic digital art to the more traditional use of a camera photographing scenes of landscapes and everyday life. My photography has its roots going back to my experiences with infrared film. It was there that I saw how an image could be manipulated to something much more different than what was first seen. I still compose some photos from the infrared spectrum only now I use a camera converted to IR. When digital came along it was an easy move to software and all the possibilities that were and are now possible with their use. Still the initial composition in camera is paramount and once the shutter is closed and image transferred to computer, I can turn my imagination loose and enhance or create...
