Artist's Description
Ranger a German Shepherd. The following was taken from Wikipedia.
"The German Shepherd is a relatively new breed of dog, with their origin dating to 1899. As part of the Herding Group, German Shepherds are working dogs developed originally for herding sheep. Since that time, however, because of their strength, intelligence, trainability and obedience, German Shepherds around the world are often the preferred breed for many types of work, including disability assistance, search-and-rescue, police and military roles, and even acting.[6] The German Shepherd is the second-most popular breed of dog in the United States[7] and fourth-most popular in the United Kingdom.[8]"
This pet definitely has a strong herding instinct and is very protective. He loves to play ball which is a good thing as this breed needs about 25 miles of exercise to keep healthy.
About Jim Cook
My body of work ranges from photographic digital art to the more traditional use of a camera photographing scenes of landscapes and everyday life. I still compose some photos from the infrared spectrum only now I use a camera converted to IR. When digital came along it was an easy move to software and all the possibilities that were and are now possible with their use. Still the initial composition in camera is paramount and once the shutter is closed and image transferred to computer, I can turn my imagination loose and enhance or create...
