Description
The word Southwest when used to identify that part of the United States that is comprised of Utah, Arizona, Nevada, Colorado, Texas, and New Mexico is not an official designation nor does it encompass an entire state. Residents of states like Texas and Oklahoma will describe themselves as “Southerners”, “Westerners “or as often as not they will say they hail from the “Southwest.
Still “Southwestern” inspires an imagination to think of many things. Included in those thoughts may be images of the old west where cowboys and Indians once and still populate the region. Sandstone formations that have created unforgettable geologic wonders as found in Monument Valley. The iconic Grand Canyon, Zion National Park and Bryce Canyon where this photo was taken.
This arid and semi-arid region offers landscapes that equal or surpass many others of this world ranging from majestic mountains and high plains to sandy deserts and canyons that are navigable by foot or raft.
More of my art from the Southwest will be found here in Fine Art America at http://1-jim-cook.pixels.com/
