Inspiration is something that makes someone want to do something or that gives someone an idea about what to do or create. The image was made at Valley Forge National Park just outside of Philadelphia Pennsylvania. While walking the trails there I Came upon this scene which was of two trees. The full healthy looking tree followed close behind by the sparse ill looking one. I composed it and deliberately cropped in camera, half of the stronger tree out of the frame. What I hoped to create at that time was the suggestion of age. Youth and vitality as opposed to aging and frailty. I called this first version �Generation Gap� Later the urge to create something else from this original photograph took hold and I reworked it to that which can be seen in my infrared gallery here within FAA. My body of work ranges from photographic digital art to the more traditional use of a camera photographing scenes of landscapes and everyday life. My photography has its roots going back to my experiences with infrared film. It was there that I saw how an image could be manipulated to something much more different than what was first seen. I still compose some photos from the infrared spectrum only now I use a camera converted to IR. When digital came along it was an easy move to software and all the possibilities that were and are now possible with their use.
