Description
It was a cold and rainy morning when we arrived at this waterfall. But often this is the case, so be prepared.
I believe this waterfall is named Godafoss, or waterfall of the gods.
It is a horseshoe-shaped waterfall, one of the largest in Iceland and is fed from the Skjalfandafljot River.
As legend has it, a local chieftain around the year 1000 decided that Icelanders should become Christians and threw all of his statues of Pagan gods into the waterfall and thus Godafoss, translated became the waterfall of the gods.
