Description
Towering high above the Historic Corolla Village is this last to brick and mortar lighthouse to be built in North Carolina. If you decide to climb the 162 foot spiral staircase, you will be treated to impressive views of the Atlantic Ocean, the sound and the outer banks.
The fee is $12.00. to climb and children have to be a certain height and accompanied by an adult.
I have taken some artistic liberty with this image using an infrared camera and then working it a bit in software. Actually, The structure is unpainted red brick that was meant to distinguish it from other coastal lighthouses. The lighthouse is a first order lighthouse with seven Fresnel lenses that flash in 20 second intervals and can be seen from 18 nautical miles away.
