Description
The fireweed is one of Alaska's beautiful flowers but in another part of the world it is nothing more than a weed.
Alaskans can tell by how this flower blooms, the end of one season and when the next is about to begin.
When blossoms on lowest part of the stem bloom, then summer is beginning. As they bloom further up the stem and reach the top of the stalk, summer is ending.
This photo was taken on a mountain road overlooking Homer Alaska with the mountains as backdrop. They are part of the Pacific Ring of Fire, known for their seismic and volcanic activity.
Great wall art for home or office.
