Description
Patterns of resemblance are everywhere. We see them all throughout nature. Some are fairly evident while others have to be sought out and still others are seen only by the subconscious. Looking at clouds and seeing shapes and figures seems to be among the most common. Some will be viewed if looking at trees especially the trunks of live ones and fallen dead ones. The photo here is of driftwood from decayed trees that were destroyed by an ever encroaching surf. To my eye they seemed to resemble a large whale and its offspring trapped in a beach puddle. Resemblances are not restricted to nature but will even be seen in the food we eat. Religious themes and figures have been seen in all sorts of locations and oftentimes there are news reports of these in newspapers and television. If it gets enough press crowds will flock to see for themselves. People may not always see what the person next to them sees. Cloud formation may seem to resemble Abraham Lincoln and someone else may think it similar to a buffalo. Are these resemblances the need for us to make recognizable something that is different or is there coincidence or synchronicity at play here. Some may even see a link to the paranormal.
This image was photographed while shooting at Boneyard Beach South Carolina. More photos from that shoot can be viewed in my collection titled South Carolina here in FAA .
