Description

View is from Whitetop Mountain Virginia. Clouds are drifting, and most had cleared, revealing the core of the Milky Way. The colored lights below are from Independence Virginia, and further out is North Carolina.
We arrived just before sunset and were worried that a large system of slow moving clouds were going to ruin any hopes we had of viewing the Milky Way. Patience prevailed and we were rewarded for it.
